MySpace Loses Everything Uploaded Before 2016

All content uploaded to its site before 2016, including songs, photos and videos has been erased.

MySpace was once the Facebook of social media. It capitalized on the exodus from Friendster in 2003 and quickly gained a following especially among musicians.

The company claims faulty server migration is to blame for the erasure of all files. On a site banner now deleted, it read,

“As a result of a server migration project, any photos, videos, and audio files you uploaded more than three years ago, may no longer be available on or from MySpace.”

Even though the site has been mostly inactive for years thanks to sites like Facebook, the site still has monthly users.

At first people thought that the files were only temporarily unavailable, but now it’s been confirmed the files are lost completely. No backup files.

MySpace didn’t post any further information to sites like Twitter, as it hasn’t posted to to there since 2017.
