Employee bonuses on Facebook will now be linked to how well the company deals with issues like hate speech on the platform.
Facebook’s employee bonuses previously were based on factors associated with traditional business goals like user growth and revenue.
This priority shift comes after last year’s numerous scandals involving Facebook’s lack of respect for user’s data and rampant misinformation.
The formula for measuring this form of progress will include recording how many fake accounts get taken off the platform daily.
“This past year we’ve invested record amounts in keeping people safe and strengthening our defenses against abuse. […] As we begin a new year, […] we’re determined to do more to keep people safe across our services,” Facebook said in a statement.
