Facebook Plans To Shut Down Moments – How To Save Your Photos

Facebook said on Thursday it was ending Moments, its standalone app for privately sharing photos with friends (similar to Google Photos) which launched in 2015. The app’s services will be discontinued February 25.

Facebook decided to end support for the app, which already hadn’t been updated in awhile because so few people were using it.

Facebook launching and shutting apps is a common occurrence. Other shut down apps over the last several years include Facebook “Poke” which was a copy of Snapchat, Facebook “Paper” which was a newsreading app,  and Facebook “Rooms” which was an anonymous chat app.

Facebook also implemented a well-known Twitter feature with hashtag search. Obviously Facebook has been on a mission for awhile now to become the social media platform.

Here’s how to save: Moments users should see a message warning them of the closure of the app. Below the warning is an option to export photos and videos from it.
