Facebook Rolls Out Fact-Checking Program in the UK

Social media has been working to eliminate fake news ever since it emerged as a major issue back in 2016. Law-makers have grown increasingly impatient with the issue as well.

Facebook’s fact-checking program is launching in the UK. This program is managed by Full Fact, a fact-checking charity. They stated they will work to review stories, images and videos flagged by users and decide the content’s truthfulness.

Full Fact also stated that Facebook will have no control over what they choose to check or what rating they will give for the content on the platform. Facebook staff members won’t even be able to see the ratings until they are live.

It’s a painstaking process to monitor social media activity, especially when you have billions of active users on your platform. Finding fact-checking partners across the world is the route Facebook is currently taking to resolve the issue.
