Club Penguin, the Disney-owned social network for kids, recently announced that it’s going offline this spring.
Club Penguin was released to the general public on October 24, 2005. The browser-based MMO game was played by a myriad of millenials for over a decade.
Premium members will be able to log in to Club Penguin until March 29, and no new memberships will be offered from this point.
The game consists of penguin avatars who explore snowy lands while socializing with others. This has led to an in-game based culture which even reflected real life events.
On the plus side, the Club Penguin team is launching a new product in March, Club Penguin Island, which is set to be a mobile-focused app.
